In June 2021 I went with a friend to Gran Canaria for a week. In this week we have discovered very nice villages and I will tell you something about them.

Teror

The first village we had visited was Teror. We had arrived Saturday night and Sunday morning we were thinking about what we wanted to do that day. Soon we passed by Teror, which also has its weekly market on Sundays.

So we decided to go there. Teror is located in the North of the island and you can take a bus from Las Palmas directly to Teror.

The bus ride is incredibly beautiful since you have to drive through the mountains. After the beautiful bus ride we arrived at the bus station of Teror. From there, the market was very easy to find because of the crowds walking towards it. The stalls ranged from fresh fruits and vegetables to

clothing to local food to jewelry. In addition, there was live music and views of the mountains. There was a very pleasant atmosphere at the market and combined with several souvenir shops we ha

d a nice afternoon with various purchases.

I definitely recommend going to Teror, especially on Sundays. Even though there were nice stores next to the market, the market did give the atmosphere.

Puerto de Mogán

The second village is Puerto de Mogán. This village is known for its streets filled with flowers.

The bus drove directly to this village as well, and this bus ride was also incredibly beautiful. Puerto de Mogán is, I think, my favorite village in all of Gran Canaria because of the variety that can be found in the village. Besides the beautiful streets full of flowers (personally I was afraid that it was only one street full of flowers, but it was really streets full), the architecture of the colonial houses was also surprisingly beautiful and you could lie on the beach, on a bed for only ten euros. In addition, you can swim in the sea and various water activities were organized on the beach, such as subbing and riding a jet ski.

If you are looking for souvenirs, Puerto de Mogán is also the perfect place to go with several souvenir stores. In short, when planning a trip to Gran Canaria, a visit to Puerto de Mogán should not be missed.

Maspalomas

Maspalomas is known for its outgoing area, beautiful beach and dunes. These different features make Maspalomas well worth a visit.

We stayed in Maspalomas and this allowed us to explore the different sides very well. I also recommend staying in Maspalomas because there are many buses and therefore you can easily visit all sides of the island by bus.

The nightlife area is large and very different, among other things you have the Heineken café, which has a cozy atmosphere. The beach is also very large and various water activities are organized here as well. There is also a nice and cozy boulevard with many different stores and a delicious ice cream shop.

The dunes are also worth visiting. On photos they are not as impressive as in real life. It is not a long walk from the boulevard so I would definitely recommend a visit.

Puerto Rico

Finally, the village of Puerto Rico. In addition to the beautiful beach, an incredibly beautiful and large shopping center has opened there. Here you can find big chain stores like the Pull&Bear and the Adidas.

On the beach you can sunbathe and swim and if you want to do a slightly more adventurous day trip, I definitely recommend the dolphin spotting tour.

Choose the more expensive ones where you can also go into the water on a banana, because if you choose only dolphin watching, you have to return after two hours and with the more expensive version, the boat sails on and stops somewhere at sea. Then you can do various water activities such as riding the jet ski and you can swim in the sea. This is definitely a must, because I had a very nice day on the boat.
